Increasing demand for electronic products with high energy efficiency for emerging applications such as military, satellite, aerospace, and automotive has accelerated the need for active electronic components market rapidly. Active electronic components were formerly only used in printed circuit boards and consumer devices. Rising demand for electric and hybrid vehicles and increased emphasis on renewable energy use are expected to drive market expansion in the coming years. Inverters, solar panels, and turbines are examples of renewable energy fixtures. These gadgets are also built with active electronic components like phototransistors and photodiodes.
With the introduction of IoT and smart devices, the demand for flexible and tiny electrical components has increased dramatically in recent years. Furthermore, rising demand for smartphones and other smart handheld devices such as tablets and PDAs is expected to drive global active electronic component demand significantly throughout the forecast period.
In 2022, global exports of electronic circuit components totaled US$1.015 trillion. This dollar figure represents 4.7% of the total value of exported goods, which was $21.513 trillion. Since 2017, when worldwide shipments of electronic circuit components totaled $621.7 billion, total sales of exported electronic circuit components have increased by an average of 63.2%. Exports of electronic circuit components increased by 29.4% year on year to a total of $784.1 billion in 2020.
Hong Kong, Taiwan, mainland China, Singapore, and South Korea are the top five exporters of electronic circuit components in terms of value. In 2022, that group of five leading exporters accounted for 71.8% of global shipments of electronic circuit components. This high percentage implies that these top international electronic circuits business competitors are relatively concentrated. Among continents, suppliers in Asia sold the most exported electronic circuit components on worldwide marketplaces in 2022, with shipments totaling $892.5 billion, or 88% of the global total.
Lower percentages are attributed to exporters in Europe (6%), North America (5.6%), and Latin America (0.04%), excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean, Africa (0.02%), and Oceania (0.01%), led by Australia and New Zealand.
The 15 countries with the highest dollar value of electronic circuit components exported in 2022 are listed below.
In terms of value, the 15 nations listed above sent 97.4% of all global electronic circuit components exported in 2022. Vietnam (up 134.4%), Hong Kong (up 37.3%), Ireland (up 35.9%), and South Korea (up 31.9%) were the fastest-growing exporters of electrical circuit components since 2020. France (up 15.2%) and the Netherlands (up 16.6%) were the top suppliers, with moderate gains in international sales of exported electronic circuit components.
During 2022, the following nations had the highest buoyant net exports of electronic circuit components.
Taiwan has the most significant surplus in the international electronic circuit component market. As a result, this positive cash flow underscores Taiwan's significant competitive advantages in this specific product sector.
